Be Honest and Apologize

Verlin is crying. Kara is also crying. The did not fight, or teased each other. But that happened. Verlin found it hard to finish her writing work. She started to be grumpy when her teacher asked her to get it done. Writing is her biggest enemy. Writing easily tires her. But not running around the field. Running around the field makes her happy. Catching bugs and grasshoppers is one of the most fun activities she likes doing. And playing with her friends has always been an activity she loves the most. But not writing.
Today, she had Writing. She had to write a letter to her parents. This is to invite her parents to come to her mini project exhibition. Some of her friends wrote quickly and neatly. Some others wrote a little slowly, but they could finish it. Verlin is an exception. She hates writing. It takes her long time to create the letter shapes. Kala, one of her best friends, also found writing hard to finish quickly. But most of the times, she could finish her work, although it took her long time. As today, she could finish it finally. But not Verlin. Until the last minutes, she could only finish half of the letter. When Kala told her that she has finished, Verlin was surprised. A voice from somewhere whispered and told her to borrow Kala's work. Then she did it. Kala is a good friend. She let Verlin borrow her work. Then, when it was the time to submit the work, Verlin submitted Kala's work to the teacher and told her it was mine. She even wrote her name on it. Then she gave her work to Kala. Knowing that it was not her real work, Kala told the teacher that it was not her letter. She then cried. But Verlin insisted that it was hers. Then the teacher talked with them. She checked the handwriting. Knowing them for almost a year, the teacher knows which is whose handwriting. SHe said, "Verlin, I've been teaching you for almost a year. I know whose handwriting it is." "But it's mine!" Verlin insisted. She began to cry then. "Verlin, I've been with you for eight months and know what your handwriting looks like. I just can't believe that you told me a lie. I know it's Kala's handwriting. Do you want me to check the CCTV. Easy, I just need to call the IT officer." "No, don't do that! OK, I'll admit," Verlin replied. "I'm sorry. this work has tired me. I can no longer continue," she continued. "Even if you're tired, is claiming someone's work as yours a good thing?" the teacher responded. "No," she replied. Then she said, "I'm sorry for doing this, Ms. and Kala." The teacher then said, "Kala, she apologized. Will you forgive her? Asking for apology is something that not everyone can do it sincerely." "OK, Ms. OK Verlin." "Then please shake hands," the teacher continued.
